As much as possible, do not allow fur-bearing animals in the home. If this is not practical, then at least keep them out of the bedrooms at all times. Animal danders vary in their ability to induce symptoms. Cat dander is more potent and lasts longer than dog dander. The smaller the animal and the less furry, the better the chances are of NOT provoking allergy or asthma symptoms. A Chihuaua would problably be a better pet (under these circumstances) than say, a persian cat. By the way, small pigs are becoming very popular and are actually smarter than dogs.
